Fun Monday "Mother may I?"

Okay I'm a little late getting this one up today but it's here! Since this one revolved around pictures and my house is a mess I needed to take you outside. Yesterday was cold, windy and rainy so I had to wait till this morning to post which for many of you is actually going to be evening.

Anyway todays Fun Monday is hosted by Hootin annie and she wanted to play a game of "Mother may I?" In this game she first asked us to take 30 steps away from our computer desks and take a picture. Well from my computer the only indoor area 30 spaces would be headed down the basement and really it's not interesting at all and kind of musty so we don't visit there very often.

Okay 30 steps from my computer will usually take your outside onto the porch and down the back steps a few steps down the trail to the ocean and this is what you see...

Hmm what is that behind the tree? Old floats, ropes and lifesavers from a boat. You can't see it but the right is a small buoy as well. We are renting our house and the owners say these things were there when they bought it and they think it gives the house character. I don't know. They are kinda cool though they are really old and the birds and eagles seem to like pecking at them occasionally.

The next instructions were to turn around and walk back 15 steps, which brings you back to back steps I turned to the right because you don't want to see the green ground that is our back porch and here is what you would see.

Planters full of rocks. They are right up to the house and actually the only thing on the porch that doesn't fly away in the wind storms we get here this time of year. Another thing that was here when we moved in. Nope not exactly sure what they are for either....

I'm posting this week working up to 2 of my kids birthdays so those of you who have been watching that I will have both Joshua and Kenzie up later today.

An outdoor vision - which can only be described as stunning....

As always one is so so envious of your location...

As for those pebbles - they are for throwing at the wind - adults only mind, give it a try ;)

Look forward to your other post, but if it is past my bedtime, I reserve the right to view until Tuesday - okay!!!

You have the best views from the island. Not sure about the planters?? I guess the owners have a reason, right?

My grandson collects rocks. He puts rocks in things, on things, under things, around things, etc. I'm betting whoever had your house before the current owners had a small boy child.

What cool things to see just by taking random steps! I love the old boat stuff.

Your views are sooo awesome. My mother & I actually had an offline conversation about your home. Really. We did.

rock planters.... do they grow well in alaska? ;-)

Yes - the fishing stuff gives the place character - but only because you are on the Alaska coastline....if you were landlocked I'd have to say differently.

speaking of wind - we are getting tons here today...and I have to laugh because all the local stations are calling it "THE NOVEMBER STORM" - ha ha...it isn't even that big. But, you know Portland - got to have something interesting to cover.

If I had something that attracted eagles, I would put a lot of them up. You've got to get pictures of that.

This has just been one of the most fun, fun mondays ever! What a great job. I love the moss on the tree!!!

You did good.

That makes a good picture with all the old ropes and things behind the tree.
The children could use the pebbles for collages and all sorts of craft!

The planters full of rocks make sense to me. After all, the don't have to be watered and I couldn't kill them.

Looks like good safety thing to have and the rocks sound like a good idea. I had no idea you got windstorms. Ouch.

I kind of like the old stuff by the tree-- although I'm glad you told what it was... at first glance, I thought it was a makeshift outhouse. :)

That ocean stuff gives the place character. Perhaps the owners had fake flowers in the pots with the rocks, and they blew away.

I NEED to visit Alaska! What a cool place to live!! I must agree with bluemomma - they don't have to be watered and ya can't kill them - so I'd keep the rock planters!!

Every house and yard needs character. The planters full of rocks. Something my kid would do, so probably from some prior kid life.

Thanks for sharing

Oh I love a good wind storm! As long as I am in my house of course. But I imagine that ours are nothing compared to yours.

I totally thought the first photo had an outdoor potty in it, like the ones used for potty training and old folks?

I need to go lie down.
