Kelly

So on Monday Kellys work is sending him on a job. He is going to a site near Bethel Alaska. He will be there anywhere from 2 weeks to a month.

He won't be able to call from his cell phone because it won't get service there and where he will be they only have satelite phones so he will only be able to call home about every other day or so just to find out how we are.

This is kinda freaking me out though I hate not being able to reach him every day for one. I've gotten used to our almost daily talks on Skype when we can actually see each other when we talk. The other thing that freaks me out is where they are going is at a gold mine and he will have to be in it. That has me worried. Mines can be dangerous. The only good thing is he will be making a lot of extra money just before our time to come up there and afterward they will be sending him down to Juneau which is getting closer to Ketchikan which is were we will be living at this point when we go up. Okay that totally sounds like a run on sentance but I've got several things going on right now. I'm feeling a little anxious.

Wordless Wednesday.....6 teeth missing now!

Had to show you she lost another tooth this weekend. Thats 4 on top and 2 on the bottom. At this rate if she doesn't start getting any in she is going to end up having to go on a blended diet!

Re Fun Monday and the dishes.

Okay so i got a lot of comments about the dishes in my Fun Monday post. One in particular came from my dear hubby Kelly........

"Well I am weird but those dishes are mine. They are the only real thing that I got from my grandma. My mom had the same set it was got later. I kinda had to fight my older sister to keep them she tried to say that they were part of my moms set, but they weren't. The kids hav broken some of the cups that why they stay up out of the way. If you havent guessed this is Terris hubby just Getting his say. The garage well most of the stuff was in boxes tell the kids got into the stuff. Before I left you could almost get a car in there. I LOVE YOU SEXY CANT WAITE TO SEE YOU!!!!!! Kelly"

Okay so mostly point he is wanting to make first is the dishes are his not ours. He did get them when his Grandma passed away and he didn't get alot when his Grandma died and when his mom died 5 years ago he didn't get anything to remember he by either....okay I won't get into that, he reads this and that would only get him riled (sp?) up. Also as he said he had to fight his sister for them she got the same set of dishes when their mother died and wanted more. She got a different set of china though instead.

Also yes the garage was cleaner when he left. He took a lot of what was in the garage when he left but the kids quickly emptied boxes to "find" things and its a mess again. I need a truck to just take much of it to the dump!

I was surprised he commented. I have hoped he would before just to see what he had to say. He did look to see if anyone commented on his comment though. I thought that was funny.

The time with him gone right now sometimes feels like it is going really slow and sometimes it feels like it is actually going pretty fast. I really miss him though. I do well on most days but he gets me on the phone occasionally in tears feeling like I just wish it was all over and August. Really it is going by quicly and there are times I don't know how I'm going to get everything done for us in time to leave.

Oh also I wanted to add this. I found it on
Alpha Dudes site and wanted to see how everyone else rated. Here's mine

Online Dating

and the only thing bad found on my blog was the word "s*x" when I was posting about Izzaks s*x ed class class. I guess I'm a good girl!

I checked out a couple of you who I read regular and was wondering about and there are a few with some bad ones!

Like Emma who got an NC-17 rating! I think thats worse then an R. I still love your blog Emma I just may have to keep my kids away :)

Fun Monday.......

Fun Monday's challenge for June 25 is to post pictures of your bookshelves or stacks of books. Hopefully, we will be able to read some of the titles. If you want, while you're at it, post pictures of ANY shelves...shelves with toys, dishes, collections, Aunt Gertrude's ashes in an urn, etc. Also, post pictures of your garage, carport, or places where you store 'stuff.' (No fair cleaning first, but if you must, maybe this will be the motivation to do so.)

First off I have to admit.....we don't really have bookshelves. Except in the boys room right now and it has everything but books in it right now..... We do have books but mostly they are Kellys and they are in boxes or he borrows books from my brother, well he used to before he moved up to Alaska ahead of us. The kids have tons of books hence the reason the boys have a book shelf in their bedroom but the books right now all reside in boxes....cause we are moving. That and we only moved here about a year ago and the kids books never really made it out of the boxes then either...
Okay so now that that is over. I do have things to put on bookshelves if I had them. First would be mine and the girls Ashton Drake dolls

For now they sit on the mantle of our fireplace that we can't use (the landlords won't let us). I really want to get a good shelf or something to put them up nicely...maybe something with glass around them because they get dusty this time of year.
Also we have a complete set of dishes given to us when Kelly's Grandmother died a year and a half ago that unfortunatly sit in the cupboard unused. I don't want to use them really because they will get broken and again I don't really have anywear to display them..........

I have many other things I have collected over the years including a rather large collection of precioius moments that I have collected since I was in middle school that have been displayed in past houses but I haven't gotten them out here. I think some of the issue with this house is even though we have been here almost a year and a half we moved in knowing we were going to move in a year or so to Alaska and we didn't ever totally unpack so I have a lot of things still in boxes.
Okay and for the last one was the request to see our garages, atticks, etc.....and we couldn't clean them first. There wasn't much concern on me getting to that in a week, I have way to much other stuff to clean right now! Anyway I am only giving you a glimpse because it is not clean by any means!
I know it looks like a lot of gas cans but htey are empty, I promise. Kelly uses them when he goes camping because he goes way out in the woods and doesn't want to end up without gas. They are all in front right now because he was going to take them with him but forgot.....
Then there is Madisons scooter, a car seat booster that we haven't used in years (why do we still have it?) and blue and red bins that are supposed to contain the kids toys that are all over their bedrooms right now.

An evening with Emily and Simon!

I've mentioned my friend Hannah before back in this post when asked about my greatest supporters and I chose to name a couple of close friends. Really I don't talk on the blog about her to much just because like I said then. I don't share well....honestly I don't. I'm the type of person who in person has a few very close friends but usually spend time with only one maybe 2 at a time because I don't want to compete with someone else when talking. Hannah is very used to this. We have been friends since I was 13 and she was 10. I know seems like a stretch for that age group but it worked for us. I wanted a friend and sister and she had 3 brothers and was the same way. We were pretty much inseperable till I started dating Kelly. She was my maid of honor when we got married and her entire family took part in our wedding including her dad who is a minister married us. That meant a lot to me! Back then I thought of her brothers as brothers also and we all acted that way pretty much. Becci over at miraclebabyb is married to her oldest brother now and honestly I couldn't be happier for him. I like Becci alot and think she is a great person for him!

Anyway so the point of this post kinda got lost since I was writing about going over to Hannahs with the kids on Thursday evening after work. We mostly had gone to pick something up from her but it was a nice day and Hannahs kids were in good moods even though it was starting to get late.

Wait that isn't where I was originally going with this either ......

I love to take my kids over to play with Hannah's. Her kids are 2 and 1 and my kids absolutly adore them! I do to actually I should say. After all they are Hannah's kids, I feel like they are my own niece and nephew since I haven't had a real close relationship with my sisters kids, not because I didn't want it. I fought hard to be able to have a relationship with them and my sister for years until my own kids came along and I didn't want them to get hurt like I had.....long story. I know them a little more now but Hannah's kids still feel more like family. Kelly also has two nieces and they used to live with us for years and they were like my own kids but that is another long story why they aren't around anymore......again I'm losing my point here!

Here is Madison playing with Emmy

Joshua is not the type to even like little kids normally but these 2 are completly different. He adores them and here he is reading to Simon. I'm not sure how much Simon was letting him read though this book has stretchy frogs on it that Simon thinks are great for sticking in his mouth!

Just look at those little guys eyes! His mom says she doesn't see a lot of herself in her kids but I can totally see the eyes are from her......

Since the little ones were still doing well and not getting fussy or tired yet when we got there we decided to take a little walk over to the park close by. I love to go here by the way. Most of the playground equipment is a little older but still safe and Hannah and I use to spend hours here when we were younger either just swinging or skating in the tennis courts (no one usually was using them). Its just kind of fun to take the kids somewhere to play that you used to play at.

I put Izzak in charge of chasing around with Emily so her mom and I could actually visit without her having to go up slides and pushing the swing like she normally does.

He did well. He is protective of her and the only time there was anything was when she ran by him and wanted to go up the slide by herself but he caught up and everything was okay.

I see my kids with these two and love to watch them. All four of them are very attentive and ready to please them. They are very sweet. I haven't seen them like this towards each other since they were little themselves. With Izzak it reminds me of how good and attentive he was to his sisters when they were little, even though he was pretty little himself. He loves babies and little kids.

Joshua helping Emily up onto a kiddie portion of the playground.

On the way to the park Emily rode in the strolle with Simon but after she wanted to be a big girl and walk with the big kids. For part of it she walked holding Joshua and Kenzies hands. Here she had tripped and they are all looking down at her knee to make sure she is okay. Since she was being a big girl all was fine!

And here she is holding Kenzies hand. Izzak insisted on pushing the stroller for Hannah both ways. I'm sure she didn't mind since she is always the one pushing strollers and holding hands. It was a nice visit for us to since my kids were busy playing with the little ones and the little ones were being entertained by mine.

Last Friday and a little Sunday

For Izzaks 12th Bday this year he had been begging for us to buy him a nitro gas powered remote control truck. Well we gave in and he got it. I mentioned it before before Kelly left when they first tried getting it going and broke it on the first try! These trucks really put regular remote control cars/trucks to shame at their speed and what they can do! They broke it the first time accidently hitting the turbo and hitting the curb going full speed.

Izzak hadn't really played with it since Kelly left because he wasn't sure how to get it going again but this Friday he figured it out on his own and fixed it!

He had about a half a dozen other boys all chasing after it with him to play with it too!

Izzaks truck from my4kidsdunn on Vimeo

Of the park has lots of trees and Joshua is never one to stay out of them very long so he watched his brother from up high

Of course this is also a cherry tree so he had other motivation to be up in it. He was pickin cherries. In the tree you can't see what his face looks like. The kids had Field day on Friday and the school did face painting. Joshua like the Pirates of the Caribean and decided to go for one of the looks from that and had eyes painted on his eye lids......creepy if you ask me!

On Sunday the boys had spent the night at my parents house....yes it was nice having them out for the evening.....you'd be amazed at how quiet it is without them arguing with each other constantly. Any way I picked up Joshua and took him to order his new glasses, which we are waiting to have ready and hopefully I can post pics of him actually wearing them just as soon as they come in. I also took Kenzie to get her hair cut.

she has only had her hair cut like 3 times ever so she was pretty excited! They also straightened it which she was really excited about even though it will go curly again when washed. She really wants to have straight hair for some reason.....She cut about 4 inches off so it was a big thing to me also. Another thing Kelly learns about on the blog by the way.....although not as big as the hamsters.....yes he asked me about it a couple of days later but didn't say much. He knows I'm a sucker for cute free furry things!
Oh and Saturday we got Joshua a new bike! I almost forgot that. His other bike was falling apart, literally! After he fell over it when the brakes locked up on him and fell because he was riding fast and the chain fell off I figured it was time he got a new bike!
Doesn' t he look happy about it!

The funny thing is on the side of the bike it says Chaos.....they must have known it was just his bike! Joshua is all about Chaos!

Oh and the reason Madison sounds breathless in this post? I have strange kids and Izzak and Joshua had been jumping their bikes by our house and Joshua, Kenzie and Madison decided to go on the jump without bikes......silly kids....

Fun Monday

Our host this week is Molly(mjd) Return of the White Robin.

Her challenge: "I am asking that you show us something that hangs on your wall that is fun, interesting, endearing, sentimental, or otherwise enticing. Select the picture of Uncle Horace, Grandma Galt's needlepoint, or little Susie's first finger painting to show the blogging community".

Hmm honestly mine is not that exciting... and actually at the moment I have nothing on my walls. Why? Because I am trying to pack my house people! I will give you an idea what usually is on my walls though.....

First is this and it has been on our walls since our 1 year anniversary. My mother made it for us after we got married so it has always had a place in the hallway.

Thats not such a great picture of it and it really needs to be cleaned but I'm afraid to clean it.

Other then that I'm one of those people who has pictures of the kids on the wall instead of pictures of other things on my walls.

This one is usually up and its kinda sad because it is the last time we got a family picture done of all of us.... notice Madison is still a baby in this picture she was only 2 months old.....Yeah we need to do something about that.

I love taking pictures of the kids though so we actually have several these are some of my favorites

Its hard learning to ride a bike.....

Okay so I've said it before. Madison is very stubborn. She wants to learn how to ride her bike without training wheels but she won't let anyone help her. This is the look I get for offering her any advice......

Here she insists she is finkiing......remember she has no front teeth

Madison has an opinion on why she can't ride her bike....

Maddie trying to ride bike from my4kidsdunn on Vimeo
In case you didn't hear she decided that she can't ride because of the noise. The cars 3 blocks away on the busy street, any of us talking...
So what is her great idea on what will help her

Isn't it cute.....? She seems irritated that I laughed at her idea......

She didn't quite get it today but she will try again later. In the meantime she made Izzak put the training wheels back on her bike.

Also she wanted to sing for Frannie again......she loves it that Frannie likes her videos.

2 days off.....but busy!

So I had 2 days off this week. If I didn't have 4 kids it may have been relaxing but we don't have any of that stuff in this house!
Wednesday was set for Izzaks end of year conferences which went okay, well as well as we can expect anyway. The school says he is at the end of 4th grade level (he just finished the 6th grade) but I don't know if I agree with that. I don't see that his reading and comprehension has gotten better over this year and since it has been such a stressful year for him I'm not totally surprised.
After the conference I had to go to the courthouse. Did I not explain this? I thought I did but you know I forget what I tell people sometimes.... Any way it goes back to my accident in February. I had to fill out an accident report. Which I did a little later then supposed to but well within the time limit they gave me so I should have been okay. Anyway the weekend after Kelly left I got pulled over by the police because my license plate light was out....seems like they would have more important things to be doing on a Saturday night but oh well. Anyway when she checked my license she said I was driving with a suspended license, which was a surprise to me. I called the DMV that Monday and they acknowledged they had made an error and misplaced the report. Made arrangements for me to get a free replacement ID and sent me a letter to take to court saying it was suspended in their error. Can you beleive I was pulled over the day after my license was suspended? That only happens to me you know..... also when I went to replace the bulb I found out that someone had actually stolen the peices to the light for my license plate. Okay now you does that??? Also another thing that only happens to me. Anyway I thought that I would get it taken care of on Wednesday but apparently that was only the arraignment now I have to wait for them to send me a letter after they can supeona the police officer so that I can come back to court basically to show a letter that it wasn't supposed to be suspended.
After that I had to take the kids to church. It would have been a few minutes myself except I had a lot of errands I needed to take care of in a short amount of time.
Thursday was my second day off and I had more to do that day.
First Izzak was off again so we worked on the house a bit until the other kids got out of school at 11:17 (yeah weird) after that I took the kids to the elementry school for their conferences. They are student led so it actually takes longer because the kids tell you and show you what they did this year. Joshua is doing fine in school but he didn't try when taking his year end tests so he didn't do well but he even admitted he didn't try and so didn't do well.
Kenzie, well she is having some problems still a little behind in her reading but not as bad as Izzak and she doesn't seem to get math. I asked her teacher how she thought she was doing and the teacher said "Well she's a sweet girl and has a lot of commons sense, she just doesn't do well in school".....I wasn't sure how to take that it king of bothered me actually. Also she commented that she is very well organized while I was noticing the teacher had a total of 3 desks about a foot high with paper, cups and all kinds of crap....I'm thinking "uhm yeah your one to talk". Anyway I worry about her because she is very quiet and doesn't ask for help when needed. Hopefully next year when I am not working out of the house I will be able to work with her more and keep a closer eye on it.
Kenzies took a long time so I had to leave before Madisons conference to take Joshua to his eye appt.
He did well at first but then we had to wait for his eyes to dialate and he got bored....

Apparently bored leads to playing. Does he look like he is keeping himself entertained? The apointment went well. He did get talked to by his eye dr about not wearing his glasses all the time though. I love their eye dr by the way....he's awesome. He got a new prescription and he doesn't have to wear the bifocals anymore so hopefully that will help him keep them on more.
After that we came home and I took Madison so her conference which went well. She is outspoken says her teacher (nice way of saying she talks a lot) but she is doing faboulus in school and the teacher said she was the top student in the class. She exceeds in reading and totally has her numbers and early math skills down.....it is so nice to have one I don't have to worry about their reading and such......She showed me what she did this year and showed me things around the class
Isn't she cute? I know I say that all the time but she is my baby and I can't help it! Also I am so proud of how she is doing in school, even though she gets in trouble alot.....
Also she insisted I take a picture of her and her Kindergarten teacher...
Okay I have lots of other pictures and stories to tell about this week but this post is getting long already so I will save that for tomorrow or another day....

Tagged for 2 things meme.

Okay I was tagged for the 2 things meme on the 10th by Emma and somehow I totally missed that post.....So I will get right to it. I really like doing meme's especially when I need something to get me started so here you go

Two names you go by:
-Mom seems to the main one
-and of course Terri

Two things you are wearing right now:
-camo capri pants
-a white t shirt
Exciting clothes today right? I'm not working today so I get to wear whatever I want, yeah!

Two things you would want (or have) in a relationship:
-friendship
-Honesty

Two of your favourite things to do:
-scrapbooking
-apparently this blogging thing since it has competely taken over my life!

Two things you want very badly at the moment:
-August to be here so I can be with my Hubby who I miss like crazy and now that he is working I can't just call him any time I like!
-To quit my job but yes come August I will get that also!

Two pets you have had:
-Two cats Merlin and Milo
-Ummm this is new to Kelly so if your reading this its a long story but we have 4 hamsters Harry Potter, Hermione Grainger, Ron Weasley and Ginny Weasley....yes the kids are all about the Harry Potter stories. We have 4 but we only paid for 1 the other 3 were babies someone dropped off at the Petco and they adopted them out to us for free and free is a very good price and my husband knows I am bad at turning down a good deal and since there were 3 that means all the kids get their own hamster! Yes Emma I cheated on this one a bit also but I always have to explain things....also I haven't told Kelly about the new hamsters yet.

Two people I would like to do this:
-Chrisb
-Alpha Dude
Will they? I don't know. I hate tagging people but I am curious about everyone so anyone who hasn't done it already is free to give it a go

Two people you last talked to:
-Kelly of course I always talk to him
-My friend Megan on the phone also

Two things you are doing tomorrow:
-working unfortunatly
-haven't figured it out beyond that other then the usual feeding kids doing some laundry trying to get the house clean......yeah some of that probably won't really happen...kids will most likely be fed though

Two longest car rides:
-Oregon to Phoenix the day we got married we took our time getting there though
-Oregon to Colorado family trip when I was 16 to visit my Aunt and Uncle and their kids although it was made much longer because my brother was being a pain in the butt teenager and whined the whole entire time!

Two favourite holidays:
-Christmas
-Fourth of July- I love fireworks!

Two favourite beverages:
- Dr Pepper of course but I've said that one before
- My favorite alcoholic drink? would be Sex on the Beach.....really it is a drink and it took me years to be able to order it without getting all giggly saying that! I took my sister in law out on her 21st bday and made her order it also....she loves it and thats what she gets now but it was funny watching her get all red saying it!

Its been a busy day today. I had to go to conferences for Kenzie and Joshua. Joshua had an eye appt and we need to get him new glasses he is very happy though because he doesn't need to wear bifocals anymore so hopefully he will actually keep them on. I am on my way out to take Madison to her conference now so I should probably go.

Whitty Wednesday

I thought I would join in the Wednesday fun even though a little late for many of you. My dad sent me an email today with this

Very Sobering --- Gut Wrenching

This is a picture of a horrible highway accident in Germany . The picture maybe is kind of hard to take for some of you.

If you look closely you can see what appears to be some survivors of the accident still in the wreckage.

Although the picture is quite graphic, it makes you realize how quickly our loved ones can be taken from us.

My friend stayed on the scene to help, and even though he performed mouth to mouth on quite a few of them, none apparently survived.

Family

I received this in an email today included with the story below

Do you know what the word FAMILY means?
FAMILY = (F)ATHER (A)ND (M)OTHER (I) (L)OVE (Y)OU

Family
I ran into a stranger as he passed by,
"Oh excuse me please" was my reply.
He said, "Please excuse me too;
I wasn't watching for you."
We were very polite, this stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said goodbye.
But at home a different story is told,
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.
Later that day, cooking the evening meal,
My son stood beside me very still.
When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.
"Move out of the way," I said with a frown.
He walked away, his little heart broken.
I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.
While I lay awake in bed,
God's still small voice came to me and said,
"While dealing with a stranger,
common courtesy you use,
but the family you love, you seem to abuse.
Go and look on the kitchen floor,
You'll find some flowers there by the door.
Those are the flowers he brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.
He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,
you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes."
By this time, I felt very small,
And now my tears began to fall.
I quietly went and knelt by his bed;
"Wake up, little one, wake up," I said.
"Are these the flowers you picked for me?"
He smiled, "I found 'em, out by the tree.
I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.
I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue."
I said, "Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today;
I shouldn't have yelled at you that way."
He said, "Oh, Mom, that's okay.
I love you anyway."
I said, "Son, I love you too,
and I do like the flowers, especially the blue."
FAMILY
Are you aware that if we died tomorrow,
the company that we are working for could easily replace us in
a matter of days.
But the family we left behind will feel the loss
for the rest of their lives.
And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more
into work than into our own family,
an unwise investment indeed,
don't you think?
So what is behind the story?
Do you know what the word FAMILY means?
FAMILY = (F)ATHER (A)ND (M)OTHER (I) (L)OVE (Y)OU
I received this as an email today and it hit home with me so I felt like sharing it with you. I know I spend all day at work being nice to people because its expected of me for my job. I then come home and am tired and sometimes I'm not half as nice to my kids as I was to all those strangers I saw at work today. That makes me feel bad to do that. People ask me why I am so excited to be able to be home with my kids again when we get to Alaska. This is the reason for one. I don't want to waste my patience on strangers every day at work only to get frustrated at my kids when I get home. I hate that I get home from work and we almost immediately start working on housecleaning or something like that thats not fun. I've been working on that though lately. I try to have at least a couple days during the work week where we come home from work and do something fun that the kids want to do in the evening.
Also sorry about bailing on the Fun Monday yesterday I was going to but just never got the chance to get pics taken or to post it here. I will participate in Fun Monday next week though!

It rained on my parade....

Saturday was the big Grand Floral Parade. This is the biggest of the 3 parades we have here during our Rose Festival. All of the floats are covered in some kind of plant usually many flowers and flower seeds tend to make up the design. It can be really pretty and some places come up with great designs. The first picture is part of the princess float. The one at the top gets crowned as the Queen of Rosaria (portland). Portland is called the city of Roses. The Queen and Princess are chosen from each of the Porltland Metro area High Schools after each school chooses their princess they all have to go together and compete for the title of Queen for a year. It can be kind of a popularity contest though they do have to be inteligent and involved in the community before to actually be chosen as the Queen. There are no swimsuit comptitions here...

Izzaks favorite part are the military portions of the parade. Even the tank they drove through had roses on it!

This is an actual working tank with its crew riding in it there was a very large police presence walking along side of it! Izzak thought that was really cool.

Oregon has a lot of rodeos and there were a lot of horses in the parade from those and the mounted posse's from around the state.

And of course we always have the Anheiser Busch Clydsdale horses! This is always a crowd favorite! I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact people drink a lot of Budweiser here!

There was a circus float also with a Tiger made from flower seeds and a real flame circle the kids really liked that!

This year was the 100 anniversary of the Rose Festival so we had a lot of old fashioned cars and trucks and other older things in the parade this was one of Izzaks favorites. A model T truck.

Of course we leave for the parade about 2 hours early, you have to to make sure you keep your spot. The kids always bring a lotof things to play on here are Izzak and Connor riding on their scooters
A nice grin from Madison who has lost another tooth in front and that would be 5 teeth missing right now! She is a very toothless little girl! She wanted to make sure I posted this picture for her Daddy to see.
And Joshua and Kenzie peeking around their seats during the parade!

We had a good time even with the parade but we were lucky enough to have a tent over us to keep us dry so that helped!

On a side note please go by Melanies blog over at Our Happy Happenings. She has a request of all her readers about a little girl named Emma, who is 2 and is very sick with an uncontrollable high fever. She is lives in Haiti with her parents who are missionaries and they do not live anywhere near a hospital. I know this has to be very stressful for her parents right now.
