I'm just getting to posting pictures of our 4th of July, I'm kinda late.....
We had a good day. We didn't have a huge celebration like some people do. It has always been kind of a family day for us just the kids and Kelly and me. Of course as you know Kelly is in Alaska this year so he didn't get to join in the day.
I had so many pictures from the day and couldn't decide which to post so I have most of them here. I broke them up into a collage of each of the kids themselves and one of pictures of all of them and our fireworks.
We got started kind of late. The kids and I wanted to sleep in a bit and then the kids needed to get some chores done that they had been told to do the day before but didn't. When we got done with that i called my brother to see if he wanted to go to the Sandy River with us.
We stopped at the store to get some water, pop, ice and a few snacks for our time there. Of course they were completly out of ice and I had to stop at 3 different stores to find some!
It has been very warm here for the last week so the kids had a great time at the river. Madison is not so much a water baby as the other kids she is a little more fearful and doesn't leave the shore line much and stayed very close to us the whole time. I actually like that about her. Especially since she is still little. The other kids though have no fear even on a river so notorious for drownings that they have lifegaurds and free life jackets for people to wear. My kids all had their own though.
We left the lake at close to 8 that evening and went back to our house with my brother to barbeque hamburgers for the kids and steaks for my brother and I.
After the barbeque we got out our own fireworks and hand our own firework show. The kids enjoyed that of course to and I decided to let the boys try out lighting some of the smaller fireworks themselves. They had been begging me to let them do some this year so I guess I gave in. It actually went really well and the boys were being very responsible and neither of them got burned. My brother did though but he is an adult and wasn't paying attention. Luckily I still have tons of the prescription burn cream from when Izzak burned his leg so I doctored him up and he was fine. If you look up at the collage of Madison though you may notice she is kind of hiding behind chairs. She has never been a huge fan of fireworks. She like to watch but she likes to be behind things. Last year was the first year we were able to get her out of the house. Before that she would watch from the window inside. She will still run into the house every once in awhil.
Over all it was a good day and we had fun with the kids. It's funny that in the last week we've done fun days like this with my brother and my brother in law. We don't really do a lot with either one of them normally but I think that they are realizing we are actually going to move away and wanting to spend more time with us. Its nice but I wish they had been more willing to do things with us before they knew we weren't going to be around. Also I have yet to hear from my fil since Kelly left and he only lives about 15 minutes away. I'm not sure why this irritates me I don't really want to spend a lot of time with them any way but I would think they would want to see their grandchildren more before they are gone. Kellys dad hasn't called him yet either and Kelly tried a couple of times but only got voicemail.
On another note. I turned in my resignation from my job yesterday! My last day is August 3rd. I finally have something to really count down to and it felt great. I also informed our landlords of when we plan to leave and when our official last day would be. I had it go through to August 17th because that is when our next rent check would be due. Kelly is wanting to be out by the 13th but this way we have a few days extra and we don't have to try to figure out what the rent would be with a few less days.
Wow its seems like its really going to happen so much more now. I'm a little nervous and excited at the same time!

15 people had something to say:
hi terri, you are so creative. i love how you did collages of each child. i'm glad you all had a great time with your brother. perhaps another reason your brother and brother-in-law are spending a little more time with you is because kelly isn't there, and that way the children have a male presence around them and so do you. at any rate, i'm glad you're spending some quality time together before you leave.
i'm a little like madison. i'd rather watch the fireworks from inside too. i have thoughts of them going awry, which is what happened at a professional fireworks show in virginia, and 11 people were hurt.
counting down with you until august 13th. i hope once you're settled in, you'll still blog with us.
Wow, the countdown is on!
The day you described sounds like fun :)
How do you do those collages?
Is Kelly coming back to help you move?
Wonderful pictures again,Terri!
well, the countdown is on now!Really good news!I wish I can change with you and can move too!Yes,it´s normally that you are excited now and of course nervous too.
Have a nice sunday!
Hey great photo's = amazing how you do that 'collage'
Must admit - fireworks and I never really mix too - even when I was a kid - I did not mind a sparkler - but I would be off - when the 'big boy Fireworks' came on the scene!! It might have something to do with the pitch (tone).
So you can be the boss - for the next few weeks - since you handed your notice in - just show them too!! In fact - just surf the internet and of course the blogs too!!
Enjoy the day.
Peter
Sounds like you had a great family day! Love how you display the pictures! It is always exciting and a little scary to start a new chapter in life! But does this men in August you and Kelly will be back together? That is great! It is always nice to have a date, I need dates I like to know and plan when things happen! I need to know, now you have that. Time will fly- you will be packing and keep busy with the kids. I am sure they will also be big helps. Kids love new and exciting things.

It won't be too much longer until you'll be moving. Will you still be blogging at your new home? Just making sure we'll still be able to hear from you.
Sounds like you had a fun day with your kids and your family. It is so nice when family kicks and helps when there are needs, and with Kelly gone, I am sure there are things that your brother can do for you children that come in handy for you. :)
You gave your resignation. So final...but so much closer to your new adventure with Kelly! I am excited for you and hope all will go well with the move and all.
I will stay tuned!
Ok, Terri, the collage is very cool - I always want to put ALL my pictures on my blog but it would take forever to upload - so this is a great idea, and one for each child!! Glad you had fun on the 4th and that the kids enjoyed the fireworks. Hopefully it will be better for Madison next year.
