Fun Monday

This weeks Fun Monday come from Debs at 1crazystitcher, here is what she proposed.

"This is my request. Show your favorite place to relax. It can be a chair, corner, ledge, or limb. :) Get out those cameras and take pics or just write how you feel when you are in your "zone". "

Hmm. I don't have a place really at home that I go to to relax. Really. Its small and the kids are to noisy....how do you relax there?

My favorite places to go when I want to relax?

One place seems kind of odd when I say it. Its a rest stop on the Columbia river. When Kelly is here we take a lot of day trips just driving and seeing local places driving up the gorge. Anyway I've posted about this rest stop before and if you look at the pictures could you call the view anything but relaxing?

Honestly its just beautiful views and there is a train that runs just below if you were to look over the ledge here a bit . The kids like to go down to the fencing up above and see when the trains come and when they go into the tunnel built into the side of the mountain. Also they kids really love to run around and play here rolling down the grassy part of the hill. I just like to sit in the grass and enjoy the view.

Here are Joshua and McKenzie playing you can see the fencing that they like to look over.

Another place I like to go is this lake. We went here last weekend and I posted about it here. I like to come here because again it is a beautiful view and the kids love it and can be entertained for hours.....which means some quiet time for mom. That doesn't happen much with 4 kids! Also Many parts of the lake are pretty shallow so its pretty safe for the kids especially with life jackets on. I know I don't completely depend on them but it makes me feel better.

If you look at this picture below you can see about halfway into the lake there is an area that rises above the water. That is halfway across the lake. Its pretty cool. The deepest point of the water to get there is about waist deep for Madison then gets shallower again until you get to this area which is a lot larger then it looks.

If you've read my blog much you may know that one of my favorite places to be in the beach. This is my final and most favorite place to go to relax. I love to just stare off in to the horizon and watch the waves. I love the sound and smell of the ocean. It may have to do with the fact that my dad was in the military and was stationed on Midway Island when I was born. My mom traveled with me, my 7 year old sister and 15 month old brother when I was 6 weeks old from Oregon to Midway Island, she had to have been a brave woman! I learned to fall asleep to the sounds and smells of the Pacific Ocean. After that we lived in Hawaii for several years and I still had the same sights and sounds. Until I was 14 I never lived more then 5 minutes from the ocean. It just feels like home to me.

Apparently Izzak has learned to appreciate the ocean as well.

Some people have asked if I will continue to blog when we move. The answer of course is yes! I couldn't see giving this up at this point. I have asked a couple of people if they would guest blog for me when I'm gone and anyone else who would be intested just let me know! It will take us a few days to get up there and depending on wether Kelly has internet hooked up by the time we get there since he will be moving from Anchorage to Ketchikan before he comes to get us.

All the more appealing is the beauty of the scene and of your kids enjoying every moment - which makes it such a 'memorable' scene for you to treasure in your beautiful photo's.

So pleased you will be continuing to blog when you move and to know we will have the pleasure of your writings and photos - to look forward to.

Enjoy the week.

Love the serenity of all the pictures. I, too, love the beach but there aren't very many here in Colorado unless my kitchen floor might be considered one because of all the desert sand on it right now.
I have to go back to read about your move. Love Anchorage AND Ketchican.

That first spot does look very peaceful. I love the picture of the kiddos running on the beach. That should go in a frame somewhere:o)

Oh the beach is definitely a special place. I avoid it now with our 3yo but when he's a wee bit bigger, we'll be there more. It's completely mesmerizing, kinda like watching your children having fun.

Where is that at? The Willamette River? Where on the Willamette....because it looks more like the Columbia to me. Just curious.

Karmyn you are right. I wrote that late last night and for some reason I always mix them up. It is the Columbia....

Well, now this is a totally cool take on this relaxation thing! I thought briefly about posting beach photos, but I'm always paranoid that The Offspring will be sucked under by a big wave.

Very nice, tranquil scene.

hi terri, you've picked some beautiful places to relax. i don't have a car, plus i live in the city so any beaches, lakes, etc. are too far away without transportation. right now, my favorite place to relax is in my bedroom on my bed, propped up on pillows. sometimes i watch t.v., sometimes i listen to music, and sometimes i just sit and enjoy the silence. may sound a little boring, but my home is my haven.

I like the pictures. I enjoy the beach as well, so I can relate to these photos.

That would be nice for you to have guest bloggers on your site and if they would be able to give updates on your move and all too! Hope you find a way to accomplish it all.

What is it, about 4 weeks to go?
