The boys and Boy Scouts

I had said that the boys and Kelly went to a boy scout camporee this weekend and hoped Kelly would take some pictures. Well surprisingly he did. What is it about men and not thinking to take pictures? I constantly take them! But he did get a few which I appreciated.

Here is the flags for the flag ceremony.

They learned about throwing Tomahawks, I'm not sure why or for what purpose they need to learn that but oh well. They are boys and boys like throwing sharp things don't they?

Here is Izzak throwing his.

And Joshua of course....

A little scary to me! Seriously fokes the way this kid is I would not want to be around during this and would be VERY far away. The kid is dangerous with sharp things! He threw his and it went over the large log target and hit a log a ways behind it. No this is not one of those moments I would want to be around for the picture taking.

That is about all he remembered to take for pictures though.

One of the other things they were doing on this hike was to earn their polar bear badges. They were to wade out into the very cold water chest high and recite the boy scout pledge. Brrrr...
Izzak did it and I'm pretty proud to know he did it except suddenly he decided the water isn't so bad and wanted to go to the lake with the puppies today...uuuhmmm there is still a thin layer of ice on many parts of the lake!

I was at the same campground the afternoon before their campout with a bunch of the other homeschooling moms and kids having a picnik and so the kids could get together and play so I had taken some pictures of the area, mostly of the river they did the polar bear badges in.

It is a beautiful place just look.....

I have found very few places here that I don't like so far. It is a beautiful place and the sun has been out for the last several days which is soooo nice although it is still pretty cold but we did get up to 50 today it almost felt warm!

I understand how you feel but I guess they were well supervised for the Tomahawk throwing~ it does look as though they were a reasonable distance from the crowd!

Those last photos are beautiful what a lovely place to go for a picnic~ you have so much beauty surrounding you.

That looks like a great time. I would've been nervous about the Tomahawk throwing too. I guess that's why the dads go, otherwise us moms would be too nervous to let them do that kind of stuff.

The Tomahawk would be a bit dicey for my taste, but that is just me. That is certainly beautiful country!

I am following you on Twitter...now you need to tweet!

What a beautiful place to camp and/or picnic...Dillon and Mollie are off camping with the scouts this weekend, they never take pictures.

I'm just thinking "BRRRRR" - what a cold weekend to go camping. (at least it was here).

Boys and tomahawks. Sounds fun for them (but not for moms!)

Man, you live in a pituresque place. So gorgeous.

A polar bear swim...brrrr is right! Good for Izzak for doing it, though.

The Boy Scout outing sounds like fun.

I was just watching a show last night on TV that was in/about Alaska. Sure is beautiful.

Well done to Kelly & the boys for the great photo's - and amazing they are too.

Like the caption "boys & men like throw sharp objects".

Alas women through their voices - and they are even sharper :)

Hey Terri, I have a new mobile camera phone - pop over to my new blog and see it there...

Also watch the video - I have managed to download on to my mobile - it is Katya Chechova - and she is great - the music captivated me - and I only wish I had hair to comb - and of course wishing I was sooooo many years younger!!!!

Still it shows - I luv varied music - what do you think?

Hope you are all well...

Gorgeous photos. What is it with boys and sharp items and throwing things. Must be the hunter/gatherer/protector part of them. Gotta love them, don't gotta be there when they are throwing sharp items. Glad Kelly got some photos.

trying to catch up!

what a stunning place.. although there is no way I would get in that water. It needs to be over 90 before I feel it is warm enough to get in the water.
