Fun Monday

This weeks Fun Monday is brought to us by Nikki at My Husband thinks I'm weird.

Here is her challenge:

1.) I don't know about you, but my family is great at creating strange words that only we know the meaning. Some were created when the kids were first learning to talk, others came about when our tongues were twisted and the word came out funny. Either way, the words stuck and we still use them in our daily conversations. What created words does your family use?! Please share the story behind the word if you remember. If you don't have a made up word then tell us about the unspoken way you communicate with someone. Do you and your significant other have a look that means "This party is boring, lets split" or do you have a look that your kids know means their butt is in serious trouble? Please share!! And a picture of the look would be very entertaining!

Hmm for us most of ours funny words came from Izzak. Izzak was speach delayed and didn't have any words until he was just about 3. Nope none at all... Anyway it brings for some funny words.

Most of my regular readers will know that my favorite soda is Dr Pepper. Well my kids all knew that early on and Izzak had a word for that that we could never figure out how it came out the way it did. From then on we refered to Dr Pepper as Poc D Dupee. Yeah not sure exactly how that came out but it stuck. Another was Rhuga for Yogurt and Neaners for fingers. Those all seemed to stick and are still used all the time.

We have others like pasghetti for speghetti which started with my own family from my sister, Spork was my brother that and littering room for living room (yeah it fits better around here anyway). Also you know that the best place to check out books in at the Libary (no r after the b). Thing a ma jiggy is for anything we can't think of the name to at the time, that or da kine which came from when I was little and my family lived in Hawaii.

That's all I can think of right at the moment. I'm sure there are many more but they have become such a part of our family I don't even notice our saying them until someone gives me a weird look when I say it.

Oh I almost forgot Macaroni is Mac N Roni from Joshua and chocolate which after Joshua we now pronounce shockolit.

I haven't signed up for Fun Monday, still thinking if I will or not. We have some words around here that stuck but at the moment I can only think of one. I think it is neat how families have different words brought on by the kids.

I'm giggling over Poc D Dupee - sounds like a rapper or something. (or a Will Ferrell character in a movie)

Kids come up with the cutest words!

Might have to steal the word neaners. Peter's family uses 'banana' for any word they can't think of.

Cute words. My Squirt says "Yaygurt" for yogurt and we all say it now, too.

Wow, a shock for me to see those pictures of all that snow. It's expected to be in the upper '80s here today...

Stay warm and Happy St. Pat's Day!

We dont' really have any words like that...well just for human anatomy parts. We have made up our own version of what we called boys and girl bits.

Well, you know shocklit DOES have caffeine in it...

Mikey has speech issues, too. One of our favorites is "Yay Note" for Wal-Mart.

Nothing like a good big bowl of Mac N Roni followed by some shocklet for dessert.

This was sweet. I love the Dr. Pepper name! My kids call American cheese "floppy cheese."

We have Ditzenfukik (Dancing music), Bowfsdites (flower lights, also known as christmas tree lights) and defused (confused), compliments of my daughter.

18 years later, they still get used!

Poc D Dupee sounds like something my dog does in the backyard - too funny! Sorry I'm late to Fun Monday - hoping to get back to regular blogging soon!

When my son was little, his favorite place to eat was called "Fun-Donalds" (because of the playground, I think).

Hope you all are doing well.

Blessings.

Kids are amazing when it comes to invention - especially of words.

I frequently come up with new words - poetic (I hope) alas, one has to find a dictionary to understand their meaning - such is life.

Have a great weekend.
