2 year old Madison

Madison opening presents on her 2nd Birthday!

Wasn't she cute! Ah I loved my little Maddie Roo......she had to try on everying that came that could be worn, hence the mittens and hat.

Unlike her siblings Madison was a perfectly health kiddo. Only one ear infection in her first 2 years no specialist visits. I was loving it thinking I was finally getting to have one kid that didn't have any issues. Then I started noticing her eyes were crossing and one wasn't tracking at all, just kind of doing it's own thing. I took her in for her 2 year well child and told our Dr and he refered us to the most awesome eye dr I've ever met, Dr Holland. Oh I loved Dr Holland! Anyway he confirmed she had both a lazy eye and crossing with both eyes. My little 2 year old had to wear bifocals!

Oh but wasn't she cute! Even the glasses didn't take away from her cuteness. I was really worried about how I was going to get a 2 year old to keep glasses on but she always left them on. She was easier then Joshua was when he started wearing them at 7! She had to patch the good eye to make the lazy one stronger and that got better pretty quickly. The crossing wasn't getting any better with the glasses and she was seeing the eye dr every 6 weeks to see if it was getting any better. After about 7 months he decided we would need to do the eye surgery. So my baby had eye surgery at 2. She did awesome though. The red bloodshot eyes after surgery were a bit scary though.

The surgery though was a success! He checked her after a couple of weeks and no crossing! None at all and she is staying straight to this day. She sees the eye dr every 6 months to make sure it doesn't come back and Dr Holland says she is a poster child for eye surgery successes.

This picture below was one she insisted I take of her. She has a messy face after having eaten a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. She is such a ham and loves to have her picture taken. When she was little all you had to do was pull out a camera and she instantly had a smile on her face.

She loved the park and had no fear of the slides or anything.

By 2 she was speaking in full sentances and often had very strong impressions about things. She was hysterical and constantly making up jokes she made up by herself. Another thing she really liked was singing. She has always loved to sing! The funny thing though that started at 2 was when she was in trouble she would make up songs singing about how mean and unfair we were. I wish I had those on tape somewhere.

One of my daughters friends didn't have her surgery until she was a teenager. It was tough on her going so long with that problem.

You did the right thing having it fixed early on.
