Fun Monday....the car version

This weeks Fun Monday is hosted by Tiggerlane the Neophyte Blogger you can hop over to her site to see all the others participating in this weeks challenge.

This is what she requested for this weeks challenge.........

"I wanna see your CAR! It can be your current car, the first car you ever had, maybe your first new car with that new-car smell, a car you wrecked once, or even the dream car you would drive - given all the money in the world! Oh - and if you have a truck, SUV, lawnmower, whatever the local authorities allow you to drive, let's see it!"

This one isn't to hard for me because I already drive the car I want. Ever since the Durango came out I've wanted one. This is my 1999 Dodge Durango. I love it and it runs great for being a bit of an older vehicle. I don't want to upgrade to a new model though because I don't like the newer body styles

The thing I liked most about the Durange was first I liked the body style but also it had the size pretty much of a mini van without being a minivan and with 4 kids I have to have a vehicle that we can all fit in along with all of our crap we take with us. We like to go camping and other places where it is best to have a 4 wheel drive vehicle as well so this works for us great.

On the inside of my Durango you can tell its driven my a girl. The steering wheel has blue and white flowers on it. I'm planning to eventually add the matching seat covers but that will come on a different day.

Also I have my fairy and bracelet hanging from the mirror. The fairy has been in all my cars for the last 5 years, yes I've had a few in the last 5 years, ever since my friend Stephanie made it for me. Kelly has an Elephant hanging off of his mirror from her also. Kelly likes elephants.

Also since I have 4 kids I will give you a little glimpse of the inside of my Durango. Its full of crap! Kid crap and garbage from the kids. Yes some of it belongs to me but most of my stuff gets taken out the kids seem to leave behind something everytime they get in. Also we have 2 booster seats in back because my girls refuse to grow big enough to ever get out of them and the way they are going they will be 12 before they are big enough. In Oregon the law is 6 yrs and 60 pounds but neither of the girls is any where near 60 pounds and they are changing the law, or trying to at least to 8 years and 80 pounds which means at the rate the girls are going they will be in carseats when they are driving!

I know Kelly isn't here right now, he's in Alaska where we are moving but he drives a Ford F250 deisel that is lifted. This isn't the best picture of it but I couldn't find a better one. This is his baby and he was so excited when he was able to buy it!

For some reason we have always owned more vehicles then drivers we have in the house so we also have this 2007 Ford Taurus. Hmm I'm not exactly sure why Kelly bought it but I given up trying to figure out his reasoning......

The good thing about it though is it gets much better gas mileage then the other 2 vehicles so I do use it when my work takes me farther to the other end of the city especially when the gas prices are above $3 a gallon!

Also it has leather interior and I never thought I would like that but it is handy for cleaning it out when something gets spilled in it. Of course it has fallen victim to being full of junk as well!

So that is is for the cars we own. The only car that someone in this house would like to have someday is Kelly. He has always wanted a '65 Ford Mustang in Baby blue with a hard top. He can go on with all the other features it has to have or he would add but the picture basically shows what he wants.

Also when Izzak my son saw what this week was about he insisted on posting his own Fun Monday on his blog. You can check that out here. For those of you who don't know about Izzak he is learning disabled I choose not to edit his words at all and I have him write out what he is saying without giving him the spelling for the words. It is his blog I want it to be his so he does everything on it himself. He doesn't write many words though.

My husband would LOVE to have an old mustang. Maybe some day. When I was looking for a new vehicle I fell in love with the Durango. Hubby surprised me with something else, but I still love the the Durango.

Cool cars!Kenzie looks really cool on the cars too.I would like your Durango!

I like the way that you have written your post and your pictures with your daughter on the hood. It is like an advertisement for your vehicles. Also, I do like the decorations in your Durango.

My car is full of crap too, and I do not have any kids to make a mess.

I am off to look at Izzak's Fun Monday entry.

I luv the durango, but with the cost of gas here - it would be too much.

Now a mustang - I so agree, and to think I nearly bought a mustang way back years it was red - and a great car, I chose a white sports car instead - wish I had gone for the mustang instead.

How sweet of wee Kenzie on the bonnets of your vehicles.

Tut tut about the 'refuge' in the cars - now my 'refuge' is only tobacco and ash!!

enjoy the week and a great post.

Wow! We don't have a car here in SIngapore as we take cabs everywhere. It costs less than having your own car.

I love the mustang! I have always wanted one. :D I have a 98 Ford Taurus. It is really good on gas. :D

I know exactly what you mean - it had the size of a minivan without being a minivan. I am with you there!

We looked at Durangos, because they came out with so much room. I don't remember why we didn't buy it. I think gas mileage ???

Now there is just the two of us - and we really didn't need it.

Great post and picture!

Awesome - I didn't realize Durango's had so much room!

Your car model is lovely and I liked the flowers on the steering wheel!!

Is your daughter practicing for a future career staring in bad 80's hair band music videos? : )

You were brave to show the inside of your car - I didn't dare.

Have you seen the commercial where the lab folks show what happens in a small amount of time when you put a kid in the car. It starts with a clean van. Then the kid is put inside, the door is closed and when they open the door, the van has toys and trash all over it and I think it was just like a minute the door was closed. That so describes my boys in our cars. My husband pulls his hair out about it. haha

I'm glad someone else showed off their danglies!

I was worried about having to drive my kid to middle school in a booster seat - she was 40 pounds for the LONGEST time, but managed to spike up to 75 pounds, just in time to go into the 6th grade. WHEW.

Thanks for participating!

The Durango is my "dream" car! Great pics :) I am off to look at Izzak's blog.

I love your fairy. Your car is much cleaner than the inside of mine!

I want a car like the one that come with cute little gal-option sitting on the hood. What dealership did you buy it from?
I like danglies but they make me crazy-er. That blue Mustang ! Oh! My!Goodness! We had one just like it. Wow ! Does that bring back memories.

You started out well, I like your ride. But you ended even better, that's a really nice looking Pony!

I love the flowers on your steering wheel!

The Durango would be a good choice for my gang.

Booster seats required here until they are 8 years old. Really it should be even longer--a lot of 8 yr olds are hardly 4 feet tall. The auto manufacturers need to rethink how they do seat belts.

Good luck getting the Mustang!

great cars terri. i'll have to check out izzak's blog to see his choice. my neighbor has a black mustang, and the neighbor who moved out before him had a red mustang.

man that mustang is my dream car... i had an opportunity once to buy one for five grand.. pristine condition.. ohhh i so wanted to but couldn't come up with the money.. i dreamed about it drooled over it and cried about it for a while ..

ok now i sound like a dork to be fair i was 20 at the time.. though i do still want that car!!

I think here a booster seat is recommended until 80lbs. My daughter has a friend who is still in one and she is 11. Her 13 year old sister is also in one. Tiny girls. Paranoid mother. My mum was saying that in England they now a booster seat until they are 12. Mine would refuse I am sure.

What are you going to do with the car when you move?

ChrisB said...

You have cool cars and a lovely fairy mascot. I think you have a very tidy interior considering it's a family car (you should see beccy's but don't tell her I said that)!!

theotherbear said...

Wow, almost all your cars seem to have a girl sitting on them ;)
I have no idea what the laws are here regarding car seats. The law in my car is no mess left behind. Of course, I do not have 4 children. Or any. Yet. You scare me! :)

My 99 Durango ALWAYS had problems, although I did love the size (just not the gas guzzling!)

I'll take a 65' Mustang too!

That's a great looking car. I am not a big fan of vans either but our Jeep is just not big enough with two kids. You really have to have a big SUV especially with 4! I love how you even posted photos of the inside of your car. I don't think I could ever post mine since it's way too messy in there!

I just read your other posts. I hope you're feeling much better this week. It must be hard with Kelly being away. Hang in there!

Good balance in your cars (and truck) selection. BUT, a '65 stang with fender skirts needs to be rethought on some level.

I like the pictures of the vehicles with your daughter on them!

I can see why you love your Durango!! I feel the same way about my 2000 Suburban, I wouldn't trade it in for a newer model, either... I always say if I won the lottery I would fix it up and keep it running forever!! =) These were great pictures!!

With a car model like your girl there, who wouldn't want it?

I'm pretty indifferent to cars in general, but you made me think!

Claudia said...

hey, my car is full of crap and I don't even have kids!! LOL!! I like the old bodies too, the new ones, ehn....

With 4 kids, my van is full of crap too. Your fairy is lovely, and I need to get me a wheel cover like yours.

My dad's first car he ever bought was a '65 Mustang, for $500, an ugly brown and tan one. He remodeled it in '88 a baby powder blue it was beautiful. Unfortunately and it still makes me very sad, his Mustang was stolen and gutted and left in Los Angeles.
I would love a Mustang like his again too.

Right now, I've got a 1999 Ford F-150 Supercab pick-up truck. It still looks and runs like new.

I've always wanted an old Ford Model A. All original, no hot rod.
